Rain and fog is a recipe for an epic, romantic and moody Somerley House Wedding.
Picture this.
You’re moments away from getting married in one of the most picturesque ceremony locations in the Southern Highlands. It’s lightly drizzling, the fog is rolling in and your heart is beating super fast. Adrenaline is pumping and you’re nervous, not a bad nervous feeling but a good nervous feeling. The “butterfly in your belly” kind that has been anticipating an event so special, its difficult to image it’s finally arrived. Then take it up a notch because the rain is settling in. This is what it was like for Jess moments before walking down the aisle. And for Joel waiting for his beloved bride-to-be in front of his family and friends.
It was lightly sprinkling as Jess was walking down the aisle but as the ceremony went on it got heavier and constant. But in Jess’ words, “the rain made the day”. Yes we all got wet, the dress was drenched by the end of the ceremony and the celebrant’s iPad died halfway through the ceremony. But that was all part of how epic this day was. And the best thing was that everyone was enjoying it and totally embracing it. Not a care in the world. Why? Because you’re getting married to the one you love.
During the reception, Joel pulled out his first acoustic guitar he learnt on when he was a little boy and played a piece he’d written especially for the day. That left no dry eyes in the whole of the room. It was absolutely beautiful. You’ll see the images below describe what the day was.
