Effortlessly Sophisticated:
A Jaspers Berry Wedding with Carla & Theo
Carla said one thing that stuck with me. She wanted to be a guest at her own wedding. She didn’t want to be the event planner, or the one checking timelines. Just present. Surprised and fully in it. And that’s exactly how it played out.
Theo and Carla’s Jaspers Berry wedding was everything you hope a wedding will be: It was heartfelt, relaxed, beautifully elegant but without trying too hard. They handed the reins to a dream team of vendors and Jaspers Berry took care of the styling and florals (flawlessly, of course). And the rest of us followed suit. There was no micro-managing, and no stress. Just two people showing up to see the day unfold with fresh eyes.
Carla wore a stunning Pronovias gown like it was stitched to her soul. Theo was calm and collected right up until it mattered. Then absolutely lost it at the ceremony. But in the best, most human way. What I really loved, was that their vows were a total surprise to each other. Neither of them knew what they were going to write to each other, it was a total surprise. And when they read them out loud in front of their family and friends, it was like they’d written from the same page in a different notebook. It was the same humour, the same heart, and the same promises in different words. You couldn’t script that if you tried. It was truly beautiful to witness.
Their day was of course one of those crazy hot December days here in Australia. That classic Aussie summer warmth that wraps around you and doesn’t let go kind of hot. But Carla and Theo were all in, glowing for all the right reasons. (Oh and huge shoutout to Monique Kazokas for keeping makeup flawless through it all. Actual wizard.)
Regardless of the heat the day was perfect. It was just two people letting the day carry them, laughing with their mates, crying mid-ceremony, holding hands like they meant it and that’s what this day felt like. It was all intentional, emotional, a little chaotic in all the right ways.
So if you’re dreaming of your own Jaspers Berry wedding, here’s your reminder: it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be you. And just let the vendors you hired do their thing. Let your friends surround you and let yourself feel it.
Be the guest at your own wedding. Like Carla and Theo were.
And believe me, your photos will thank you.
