Somerley House Garden Wedding.
A rainy day never looked so good at Somerley House
There’s something special about a rainy day wedding, especially in the Southern Highlands and Sophie and Matthew’s day at Somerley House proved exactly that. The forecast had been calling for rain all week, and sure enough, the Southern Highlands delivered with misty showers rolling in throughout the day. But in true wedding magic style, the skies gave us a break just when we needed it.
We grabbed the window (literally!) to duck outside for portraits around the beautiful grounds of Somerley House, and it was so worth it. Everything about Sophie and Matthew’s day was pure elegance. Like walking into the pages of an editorial. The styling was flawless, the vibe was effortless, and Sophie’s gown from Kyha Studios was just next level.
The reception kicked off in an elegant marquee set up on the lawn with timeless touches. All that beautiful classic detail. As the rain came down a little heavier later in the evening, we made the call to move the cake cut indoors into Somerley House’s reception hall, which honestly added even more intimacy to the night.
And then the dance floor… oh man, the dance floor. Matt and Jess absolutely set it off, turning the night into one hell of a party. It’s always the best when the formalities wrap and everyone just lets go — and these guys did not disappoint. We finished the night with some sneaky late-night portraits out in the rain. A perfect, cinematic end to an incredible day.
Sophie and Matthew’s Somerley House wedding was one of those days that reminds you rain isn’t a problem. It’s part of the story. And honestly, it suited the Southern Highlands vibe perfectly. Elegant, romantic, a little bit wild, and completely unforgettable.
